Sulette Winterbach
Lead Artist

Art and teaching have always been a part of my life. Growing up with parents who are teachers, as well as my mom's side of the family who is extremely artistic - I found myself right in the middle of it all; part teacher, part artist. After school I took a gap year as I couldn't make up my mind as to what I truly wanted to do with my life. I knew art was it, but in those years the options were limited. So I opted to study film. I also completed my PGCE, and later my Honours in teaching, with art being my major. I accepted a job as an art teacher for 5 years, whilst I also dapped in a bit of acting. I decided to focus more on my own art, whilst still doing the one thing I loved - teaching. So I became a grade 5 teacher and have been teaching for the last 8 years. My artistic lust (if you will) could not be completely satisfied as it is hard to give everything in both aspects - my job as a teacher and my art. I started doing commission work under Sulette Winterbach Original Art, designing for a baby clothing line for the shop Mallekoppie in Paarl - my brand being Winterbach Creations. I also permanently showcase my work on the walls of the beauty salon, Skin & Body Boutique in Durbanville. I didn't think twice about grabbing the opportunity to become part of Artwistic as it is everything I love in life: wine, art and teaching. Art in all its forms is a way for the soul to show the world who it truly is. It's a way for the heart to write letters without using words...
